Education - Curriculum and Instruction (M.Ed.)

The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction is designed to enhance pedagogical skills and content knowledge for certified teachers. Graduates pursue careers as teachers, instructional specialists or coordinators, trainers, tutors, curriculum developers, and more.

Five concentrations are available:

Instructional Specialist – 100% online
Special Education Diagnostics - Hybrid
Special Education Mild/Moderate Elementary - Hybrid
Special Education Mild/Moderate Secondary - Hybrid
Teacher Researcher – 100% online

The Instructional Specialist Concentration provides candidates with the requisite experience that will position them to refine, reform, or develop curricula and instruction for themselves as well as their pre-service, novice, or veteran peers. Candidates should already be skillful at their craft and should be seeking demonstrative ways to share their expertise beyond their individual classroom. The concentration leads to the achievement of Louisiana Department of Education Instructional Coach Endorsement.

The Instructional Specialist and Teacher Researcher concentrations are exclusively online, comprising accelerated 8-week terms offered twice during Fall and Spring semesters and once in the summer.

The Special Education Diagnostics and Mild/Moderate (Elementary and Secondary) concentrations utilize a hybrid format, blending accelerated online courses with traditional semester-long on-campus and online delivery.

Curriculum Leadership

The Curriculum Leadership concentration will give you the knowledge and skills you need to provide effective instructional leadership. This concentration is designed to address the growing emphasis on the need for modes of teaching and learning to support pedagogy for diverse populations.

Teacher Tuition Incentive Program

Current Louisiana K-12 educators and administrators pursuing a graduate degree can take advantage of the Teacher Tuition Incentive Program to offset the cost of earning your master’s or doctoral degree. Tuition awards are based on the level of degree you’re seeking and your progress toward the degree.

Program Requirements

In addition to satisfying the Graduate School application and admission requirements you must also submit:

Valid Teaching Certificate
three letters of recommendation that address the applicant’s potential to become a teacher leader

Note: Because some courses in this program are available only online, the program may not be available to all applicants. The �鶹ҹ�� and its online programs must be in compliance in every state where a student is located. (Visit the Online Programs website to learn more.) International students also may not be eligible. According to U.S. immigration regulations, F-1 students cannot pursue online degrees; international students in other visa categories (i.e., H-4, L2) are exempt from this restriction.
