鈥淭he people鈥攖he very talented people鈥攚ho work for 麻豆夜市 were looking out for my better interest to make sure that I got the degree that I came back for. I made As in every one of my classes when I returned because of the support I had.鈥
鈥淥ne of the things that surprised me was the level of support that we got from the program from Dr. Jennifer Lemoine and Dr. Christy Lenahan. We could go to them whenever we had questions or concerns or needs, and they really supported us. They wanted us to be successful.鈥
鈥淓verything I learned in HSA 鈥 health care collaboration, finance in healthcare, communication styles, leadership 鈥 just became more detailed as I got higher up into my education.鈥
"Whatever your situation is, online learning will make it easier; you just have to keep working hard. The best part about it all is that no matter where you live, you鈥檒l get to be a Ragin鈥 Cajun."
鈥淚 am very grateful for my advisor, Sharon Williams-Gregory. When I saw her at graduation, I had to stop myself from crying because if it weren鈥檛 for her, I probably would have quit.鈥
鈥淲ith Health Promotion and Wellness, you can go into nonprofit, you can go into for-profit, you can focus on disease prevention, or you can focus on disease maintenance. It's just so broad of a field."
鈥淵ou鈥檙e going to get as much out of the MBA program as you put into it. If you鈥檙e putting in the bare minimum, you鈥檙e going to get the bare minimum in return. But if you engage and get into the discussion forums and be involved with the people in your classes, you will have a network of people that you鈥檒l be able to connect with even after you finish.鈥
鈥淚 looked to 麻豆夜市, and it just so happened that they were starting this online program. I knew I wanted to be more help to other teachers, and this program would give me the best of both worlds. I could still be with my students, but all the practices I was putting in place, I could also share with my peers.鈥
鈥淭here were one or two times where if something was due at 11:59, I was turning it in at probably 11:55, because I had a lot going on. Sometimes we get busy, so I鈥檇 advise students to plan ahead so that you don鈥檛 get behind. Even if you have to do 20 minutes of work here and 20 minutes there, just make sure you do it in advance so that you鈥檙e not late with your assignments.鈥
鈥淚t just opened like 25 cans of worms because you're learning marketing, you're learning about law, you're learning about criminal justice, you're learning about mental health, you learn about diversity. So, all things are beginning to make sense and you realize how much everything is connected. It's really cool because you get to dive in and then kind of figure out what works best for you.鈥
