What We Do
The Student Government Association provides a host of services and events for students in order to make their experience at the university a more enjoyable one.
Whether pertaining to issues of academics, campus life, or University services, concerns from students and all other members of the Â鶹ҹÊÐ community are always appreciated, as they are what drive the purpose of our organization—to enhance the lives of students at our University.
Be on the lookout for news about new services and events that SGA is bringing to campus!
During finals week and the week before, the library and the Brew lounge are open 24 hours. SGA will provide late-night snacks and beverages in the library and in the Student Union.
Each semester, SGA provides free scantrons for all students. You can retrieve them in the SGA office.
SGA provides volunteers and financial support for the University food pantry.
SGA provides students of the Â鶹ҹÊÐ with legal advice at no cost to the student.
Form for legal assistance is currently unavailable.
A joint effort between Â鶹ҹÊÐ Police and Lafayette City Police. The two forces came together with the main objective to provide further safety for students off campus in areas that are frequently occupied. One officer from each agency will partner to patrol areas including the McKinley Street Strip, downtown Lafayette and some apartment complexes.
The Office of Transportation Services transports students to their residence halls after dark from any location on campus.
The Red Dot Discount Program is a business partnership between community businesses, the Â鶹ҹÊÐ Student Government Association, and the Â鶹ҹÊÐ Alumni Association. The partnered businesses give University students, faculty, and alumni a discount for products or services.
In turn, the Â鶹ҹÊÐ Student Government Association and Alumni Association promote and advertise for the company. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved.
The Red Dot Discount program was created to help Â鶹ҹÊÐ students become more aware of the many businesses that support Â鶹ҹÊÐ and its students, by offering discounts and/or special offers. In 2016, the program was extended to include Â鶹ҹÊÐ alumni.
If your business would like to participate in the Red Dot program, please call the Alumni Association Office at 482-0900 or email at reddot@louisiana.edu.
To receive a discount, the student must show his/her current Â鶹ҹÊÐ identification card. Without their current I.D. card, students WILL NOT receive the discount specified in the contract.
